The 9 Examples of Artistic Expression

As a creative personality, you will express your creativity in unconscious ways. A passion, such as painting or cooking, is a choice that only happens when you are inspired. You probably recognize in yourself that you get inspired easily or come to solutions quickly.

Here are 10 examples of creative expression:

1. Fantasizing and daydreaming

Daydreaming or fantasizing is common among creative people. Indeed, it is even necessary. In essence, you are engaged in fictional worlds, situations, or ideas that form the basis for your creativity. It often happens gradually and even provides dopamine (LINK Activities dopamine), because you can get lost in your own head without limitations.

2. Concept formation

Concepts, or ideas, are the juice for you as a creative person. You are therefore subconsciously focused on these as well. This can be to:

  • Solve problems
  • You like challenges
  • Create something that isn’t there yet
  • Create new and better art

When arranging your closets or house better, you are already conceptualizing. Some of it takes place mentally, but only really comes to fruition when you put it to work.

3. Problem solving

Thinking in terms of possibilities instead of difficulties is a characteristic that is not for everyone. Of course, this has a lot to do with whether you have a pessimistic or positive attitude. The bottom line is that you like challenges because you look at things with fresh, creative eyes. This is also often accompanied by lots of spontaneous ideas. Without an artistic spirit, problems will never be solved.

‘You can’t solve a problem on the same level that it was created. You have to rise above it to the next level.’
– Albert Einstein

4. Be inspired by art.

Art does not have to be beautiful; in fact, it goes much deeper than that. A work of art is meant to make you reflect on or be in awe of what is in front of you. When art prompts you to take action to create something yourself, it is an amazing artistic expression that is not possible in any other way.

Why?

Because art often makes you look or think from a different perspective that not everyone can see very quickly.

5. Out of the box thinking

Thinking and creating out of the box

Fear is the enemy of freedom. This freedom is crucial to being creative. In fact, you need to be able to think outside the box in order to create something original and valuable. This also enables you to hear which song is by a certain artist or which painting is by which painter.

Thinking outside the box is closely intertwined with the ability to solve problems where others cannot see a solution.

6. Creative brainstorming

If you plan to create something, creative brainstorming will always be a part of it. Especially if you are so enthused about your new plan, your head will be overflowing with inspiration. This brainstorming process is the incubator for the big picture and often includes some of the details of an artistic project.

  • visualization
  • writing out of ideas
  • concept in outline
  • creating a plan of elaboration

7. Artistic manifestation

‘Artistic manifestation is freeing yourself of all obstacles and blockages to take your creativity to a higher level.’

Do you sometimes suffer from a lack of inspiration, or do you feel you always get stuck in a creative project? This is often due to rules or expectations you have unconsciously imposed on yourself. You think these standards make you work better to get somewhere. On the contrary, these are the very blocks that make you a perfectionist and frustrated.

In this article on artistic manifestation you will find out what emotion and creativity have to do with each other and that anything you want to create is already inside you.

8. Journalling

Looking back over a day or period of time is good for you as an artist. This is because it lets you reflect on your choices, and you will see the big picture. Journaling is an artistic expression because it lets you dig back into your day and draw inspiration from it.

There were many great artists who kept journals. Think of Kurt Cobain and Frida Kahlo.

9. The need to create

The urge, or even life calling, to be creative is in itself an artistic expression. You are constantly on and unconsciously see sources of inspiration everywhere. Often, ideas arise spontaneously or when you are not engaged in your passion.

Conclusion

There are many ways to express creativity. This always starts in your head and develops into a plan. These ideas are then developed into recipes, paintings, or music. This artistic expression is not just at the beginning of a concept but only becomes more so when you are doing what you love most: being creative.
